One of Cain's Women Paid $35,000 or 1 year's pay to walk away

So let me get this straight. Horny Herman says there was no sexual misconduct and the charges against him are "without merit", yet, one of his victims was paid $35,000, equivalent to her annual salary in 1998, to walk away and keep quiet about the incident.  How many cases that are completely "without merit" get settled for $35,000 in 1998 dollars?  Most companies with an army of lawyers on retainer would not pay a dime on a claim like this unless they thought there was a pretty good chance that they could lose more than $35,000 in court.  That means that there had to be some fairly good evidence, or no lawyer would advise his client to just waste money like this.  The rule of thumb is that, if a case can be settled for between $5000-$10,000 that it is cheaper to settle than to go to court.  In 1998 that figure would have been closer to the $5000 range.  If they paid much larger than this amount then clearly they were clearly worried about something.  And this is just what they paid to ONE woman who "worked under" Cain, so to speak.  (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).   Cain's campaign manager admitted that more women are probably going to start coming out of the woodwork to talk about the clumsy, ham-fisted moves that Horn dog Herman tried to put on them.
